My stay at the hotel was a mix of comfort and disappointment. While the room was spacious and quiet, it showed signs of wear and tear that made it feel outdated. The pricing seemed high for the condition of the room. On the positive side, it was cozy, and we enjoyed the peaceful ambiance, only disrupted by early morning music on Monday.

Rooms

The room felt tired and in need of renovation, with a massive chip in the bath and stained tiles. However, it was comfortable and spacious.

The hotel's location was very central, allowing easy access to town and the Thames river for a leisurely stroll.
Dining

The dining experience offered a good selection, delivered promptly. The hotel's dining room, though recently renovated, was the highlight of our meals.
Facilities

The facilities were adequate, providing essential services without any standout features.

My stay at the hotel was a mix of great and not-so-great experiences. The rooms were excellent in terms of cleanliness, spaciousness, and attention to detail, but there was some water damage in the ceiling and noise from internal ducts affecting the room comfort. The service was mostly brilliant and helpful, though there were instances of feeling understaffed and encountering some rudeness. The location was fantastic, with an intriguing historical building and friendly staff, but there were minor inconveniences like noise from a storage cupboard. The dining options were good overall but a bit limited and slow during busy times. The facilities offered were enjoyable despite some noise and temperature issues in the rooms.

The hotel's location was ideal, situated in the middle of town with ample free off-street parking. The rooms occasionally got too hot and were tatty, but the attentive service and good dining options made up for it. The breakfast was fantastic, and the period look added charm to the property.

5.0/10

My stay at the hotel was a mix of good and not-so-good experiences. The location was convenient with easy access to local attractions, but the rooms were cramped and in need of maintenance, especially with uncomfortable beds. The service was responsive but lacked some professionalism at times. The dining options were limited, and the prices felt high for the overall quality of the stay.

Rooms
5.0
The room I stayed in was small and crammed with unused furniture. Additionally, there was some water damage on the ceiling, which was not pleasant. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, making it hard to get a good night's sleep.
Service
6.0
The staff responded promptly to my requests, but there were instances where their attitude seemed more suitable for a different type of job. I felt some lack of professionalism, especially around the reception area.
Location
5.0
The hotel is located in a run-down seaside resort, which may not be appealing to everyone. However, it is in the lovely Thames Valley, offering a mix of good and not-so-good surroundings.
Dining
5.0
The dining experience was a bit disappointing as the options were limited, and some items were missing from the menu. Considering the high rate charged, I expected a better dining experience.
Facilities
5.0
The facilities at the hotel were basic, with no standout amenities that would justify the price point. It lacked extra features that could enhance the overall stay.

My stay at the hotel was a mix of good and bad experiences. The rooms felt outdated, with stained tiles and a constantly dripping shower, but at least the free wifi was a nice perk. Despite being supposedly recently refurbished, the lack of AC and the view of a filthy exhaust duct from the window were disappointing. On the bright side, the rooms were clean, spacious, and well-kept.

Rooms

The rooms, although in need of an update, were clean, spacious, and well-kept.
Service

I found the service to be extremely helpful, especially when it came to catering to special requests like vegan options. Sarah and Richard stood out for their hard work and organization.
Location
8.0
The location was fantastic, set in an old but pleasantly modernized traditional coaching inn. The staff were friendly and the building itself had some lovely original features.
Dining
7.0
Dining options were somewhat limited, and breakfast could be slow during busy times, but the staff were friendly and the dining room was recently renovated and attractive.
Facilities
The facilities offered, including room service, dry cleaning, and housekeeping, were convenient and added value to the stay.

5.4/10

The hotel is in need of refurbishment and quite far from the reception, but the price including breakfast was reasonable. The purpose-built rooms at the rear are basic in design.

Rooms
5.0
The rooms were in serious need of refurbishment and quite far from the reception, making it challenging to access WiFi. However, for £120 per night including breakfast, they were decently priced and located in a purpose-built block at the rear.
Service
5.0
The service was a bit chaotic and the staff didn't seem to care much. However, they did accommodate me in quieter rooms upon request and changed my room when the bed was uncomfortable.
Location
7.0
The location was very good, right in the center of town with fascinating original features, but the restaurant overflowed and was not emptied for three days. It's a short walk to the Thames and convenient for exploring both brand and non-brand shops in the area. The historical aspect of being in 'Midsomer Murders' adds to the experience.
Dining
6.0
The dining options were of reasonable standard, but the selection varied daily. Unfortunately, not being included in the high rate of stay was a drawback. I had to have Swiss cheese as the main choice for one meal.
Facilities
5.0
However, there are some attractions nearby and easy access to the local bus service for sightseeing.
